Catherine Kaczorowski received NIA grant to study Alzheimer's disease (May 2017)

Assistant Professor Catherine Kaczorowski, Ph.D., received a five-year grant totaling $2.7M from the National Institute on Aging (NIA) for Alzheimer's disease research. The award, for "Systems Control of Normal Aging and Alzheimer's Disease," funds research to measure memory function in a genetically diverse mouse panel across lifespan and identify gene variants that increase or decrease susceptibility to cognitive decline. The work seeks to improve understanding of the mechanisms of memory decline and provide candidate biomarkers for earlier detection of Alzheimer's in human patients. Link to Full Article
